How to Use Content to Make Your Website Visible to Millions

Not long ago, many thought that posting content – any content – would be sufficient to bring in traffic. This strategy actually worked for a while until users became more discerning and picky. Now, Internet users will read content that they see as relevant to their search, easy-to-understand, and fresh, not a rehash of old content.

Content Should Inform

One of the keys to grabbing the attention of your readers is to put the important information first but only after a powerful introduction that informs the reader immediately what the content is about.

In today’s fast-paced world, Internet users are trained to search for information using keywords. In the same manner, when they read content, their focus is to find the keywords that they believe will lead them to a successful search.  Thus, how you incorporate keywords into your content has a direct bearing on its appeal to your audience unless you make it a habit of using keywords randomly and without proper context.

Content Should be Organic

One way to create organic content is by doing research and analyzing trends, news, and coming up with ideas and slants on relevant topics. Never copy and paste content; instead share it and give the writer or website due respect. The beauty of this kind of attitude is that it will:

  • Improve your content
  • Lend greater credibility to your content
  • Get you noticed by the originator of the content who may decide to thank you or endorse you or your product

Content Should Be Authentic but Also Fun

While not all topics can be written in a fun way, it is possible to lighten the content load by using clear and concise words that most people can understand. Studies show that the best way to reach the widest audience is by writing Grade 8 level and avoiding acronyms. When you can’t get away from serious topics, you can also incorporate examples or stories to break the monotony of the content.

Content Should Never Be Random: Use Analytics

Sure, it’s easy to write content – anyone can do that but to attract millions, you need content that will go viral. Studies show there are a few common traits of viral content:

  • They have a fantastic title/headline
  • They use long form, in-depth content, but written in a way that breaks the monotony of block content
  • They listen to their audience through the feedback and comments. This will help them with new ideas

Finally, content should never be boring if you want to attract traffic. Infuse emotion into your content and tone. This does not mean generously using the exclamation points and superlatives. Be more creative than that by understanding who your audience is, what they are looking for, and what they should know.
